Hi all, re my appeal (applied for dla back in April) just had a letter to say they have written to my consultant and gp and will make a decision when they get the relevant info back.

Pity they didnt do that in April when I made my original claim!

Anyone else had any experience of this?

Hello Heather,

Gosh what a long time 7 months that is bad isn't . Poor you.

I applied and had reply within 6 week although it was for the lowest
component so I guess I was very lucky.

Good luck

Hi Heather ,
it was probably the fact you had the reconsideration that has delayed it so long .. though different areas have different timescales .A reconsideration can double the time for a decision.
I think they probably realised that they should have contacted your GP and Consultant the first time and hence are now doing so before a tribunal ( A tribunal might ask why this was not done) . In effect they are reconsidering again .
If the reports from them are in your favour then it is possible they could decide that you do in fact fit the criteria for one or both of the components without the need for a tribunal.
However i would still keep a diary and get letters from people who help you or know how you are affected(including friends) , and your GP and Consultant

Hi Rich thanks for the reply. Yes its annoying that they didnt write to the gp or consultant first. They have both said to me that they will back me up, so I am hoping that a decision will be made on these facts as there is no way Im going to a tribunal, for several reasons.

Fingers crossed, although not at the moment they are very stiff!!
